Destiny (acrylic painting on canvas)
"My
paintings are mystical and symbolical landscapes, not merely record the surface
of life, but they project forms and ideas beyond tangible reality. I regard the
physical world as both fact and symbol and believe that the spirit forms nature.
Every plant, animal, mountain and river is a symbol of a greater spiritual
reality.
Since the earliest civilizations, mankind has been aware of the predetermined
course of events. According to the Sumerians Destiny began in the heavens, with
the preordained orbit of the planets. In the biblical realm, it was Yahweh, who
controlled both: predetermined and unalterable Destinies, and Fates, which could
be affected by human decisions. Because of Destiny, the course of future events
could be foretold years, or centuries earlier, provided that one was born with a
prophetic gift, like Nostradamus.
My acrylic painting "Destiny" becomes a symbolic rendering of the divine orbits, which
predetermine the lives and deaths of humans. The painting is a representation of
a departing, suffering soul, whose karmic debt will be paid in an emerging new
life."
